Blacklisting Bounce - Message Delivery Failed Due To RBL

We received a non-delivery report stating that McAfee is blacklisted. How can this be resolved?

The bounce message that you are seeing references a disreputable blacklist. Blacklists are considered disreputable based on the practices they use or requirements they offer in order to have a listing reviewed, including practices such as pay-for-delisting. Lists that McAfee does not pursue delisting of our outbound IP addresses due to the delisting requirements include:

- Backscatterer/UCEProtect
- Lashback
- SpamRATS
- (

- SpamCannibal

If the recipient is subscribed to any of these listings on their server, the recommendation is that they be removed.

For Exchange 2003 with SP2, they can remove the subscription by following these procedures:

1) Launch Exchange System Manager
2) Navigate to Global Settings
3) Right click on Message Delivery, select Properties
4) Go to the Connection Filtering tab; you will see the RBLs that you are currently subscribed to

For Exchange 2010, the steps are as follows:

1) Start Exchange Management Console (EMC)
2) Expand Organization Configuration in the left hand pane
3) Select Hub Transport (or Edge Transport depending on the server’s role)
4) Select the Anti-spam tab
5) Right click IP Block List Providers and select Properties
6) Select the Providers tab
7) Delete or Disable the entries for any of the blacklists shown above
8) Click OK to save your changes.
9) Start Exchange Management Shell (EMS)
10) Restart the Transport service by entering the following: Restart-Service MSExchangeTransport
11) Once the Transport service has restarted, the RBLs will be disabled

If the recipient is using another mail server, they should follow the steps specific to that server for removing the subscription.

This product will not work properly unless untill that value is changed.
