RADAR Journaling Setup

This document details how to set up RADAR journaling in order to archive internal mail.

Postmaster Account

In Reflexion Total Control (RTC), ensure that Archiving is enabled for your customer under Solutions > Archiving.

Then click All Users, and choose the Distribution Lists option at the top of the table. You'll notice a "postmaster" account. This is created as a distribution list so that you don't get charged for it.

Click "postmaster" and choose User > Password to set the password.

Journal Settings

Using your newly-created password, log in to RADAR ( as the postmaster, click Administration in the upper-right corner, the choose Journal Settings from the left-hand menu.

The process of journaling is different from archiving. Journaling is simply a means of recording your users' internal messages. Archiving, on the other hand, is a means of storing those copies in a separate environment for the purposes of regulatory compliance, data retention, or server maintenance.

Once you enable journaling on Exchange Server, you can then configure your server to forward the journaled messages to RADAR (Archiving). This Journal mailbox will be used to capture internal email and will send messages to RADAR so they can properly be archived.

NOTE: RADAR uses journaling for Exchange Server 2007 and later. Older versions of Exchange Server are required to use ExchangeSync.

Using the button provided, generate a unique journal address for your account. This address will be used during the following setup process.
